Tube-In-Tube Heat Exchangers

The Sentry Plate and Frame Heat Exchanger and the Sentry Thermcatcher
Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger both offer high heat transfer capacity.
These compact heat exchangers consist of many stainless steel plates
with a chevron pattern embossed in each plate. The PHE uses individual
gaskets on each plate that are arranged so no mixing of the two
fluids can occur and any leakage will be to atmosphere.
High Efficiency
Specially designed corrugated plates produce heat transfer coefficients
that are several times greater than those generally obtained with
other types of exchangers. Low Initial Cost
Sentry PHEs and BPHE very often cost less than half of a competing
shell and tube type exchanger. The price advantage becomes even
more significant when stainless steel or exotic metals are required.
Close Temperature Approach
A high rate of heat transfer - due in part to a large heat transfer
area - allows the hot fluid to be cooled to within one to three
degrees incoming cooling medium. Low Pressure Drop
The unique design features of plate heat exchangers allow the application
engineer to select an exchanger which provides the desired heat
transfer with far less pressure drop than would be required by a
shell and tube exchanger. Pressure drops of less than 2 psi are
easily attainable. This permits the use of smaller pumps and thus
reduces operating costs.
Minimum Fouling
Fouling is greatly reduced in the Sentry PHE and BPHE due to the
high velocities and turbulent flow of the media.
Easily Cleanable Sentry PHEs can be easily disassembled
for service and cleaning. On single pass exchangers, the piping
does not have to be disconnected, and no extra clearance is required
to remove internal parts.
Sentry BPHEs can not be disassembled, but chemical cleaning is enhanced
by high turbulence.
Versatility
Each Sentry PHE is designed to precisely match the requirements
of a specific application. But if the application is changed, the
exchanger can be easily modified by adding, removing or changing
plates in the field.
Sentry BPHE are compact, requiring only 10 to 20 percent of the
space required by a shell and tube heat exchanger. The BPHE is also
light weight and can often be mounted in piping with no other supports.
In addition, the thousands of brazed points create an extremely
sturdy assembly making it resistant to both shock and vibration.
